No body should have the right to decide when another life is to end.

I believe that we all have lessons to learn in our lifetimes, and we should all have the chance to understand our mistakes, minor and major. Those who have judgment brought down on their heads for extreme crimes should be allowed time to consider their actions. The death penalty doesn't allow that, and simply makes a murderer of the judicial system that ends a life.
The problems in Italy seem worse than they are in England. Why? Mainly because English clubs were forced to make stadia safer following Hillsborough in 1989 and because the UK Government has been clamping down on UK hooligans for over fifteen years now. Passports are taken away from the main perpetrators of soccer violence to prevent them travelling with England abroad. Thus we have seen a massive decline in soccer-related violence. Many countries on Continental Europe do not seem to have introduced similarly strict measures.

I'm from England but I've been to a few soccer games in Italy - around the year 1999 I think. We did see some violence - although mostly threats rather than the real thing. Roma v Juventus (with Zidane both scorer and sent off for dissent) was marred by fans throwing flares at each other (common practice I believe). At the end of the game someone spat at me on the way back to the hotel from his moped. I was wearing a Roma shirt. The other incident was at the San Siro at the Milan derby. Just getting tickets for that was scary - the touts were rather heavy looking if you know what I mean. Two clearly opposed fans tried to get at each other across the three of us during the game. Needless to say we were having none of it and told em to sit down. More flare throwing at opposing fans in that one as well. In that game Ronaldo got sent off. We seemed to have this effect on players over there!!

Frankly it seems to have stepped up a gear now. Two deaths in a matter of weeks. The picture of the policeman's wife was heart-wrenching. Mass football riots I've only ever seen in this country - at a Forest v Tottenham game in about 1995. Scary things to have to try and make your way through believe me. I feel for you guys out there - particularly when you just want to watch football. These people need to have the full weight of the law brought down on them so they don't ruin it anymore than they already have for everyone else.

Football is a tribal thing and I love it for that. But it doesn't have to be violent.

In response to:Uk Bloggers, we need your opinion..

could you try to explain the senso of humor on this videoclip?
"The Pope looks well farther than the italian political community", which has demonstrated a blind inconsitency in addressing the Turkey's workstrand. In the middle of the national general uncertainty, he has got to takeover the initiative upon its own shoulders, just not to leave turkey's deal simply unaddressed by the beach boys of political parties.
I've read your article and I found in it quite a few convergencies. Actually, I share your consideration on keeping running onto your track, although, whilst running, the occurence of crucial details get the risk to be lost. In my life I've always faced the future ahead while I was concious it would have been better looking backwards from time to time. For the incoming convenience to stop by and loiternig around for a while, I'm trying to wide the narrow sight, slowing down the impetus of burning days and milestones.

Do you mirror in it?

In response to:Back to the future of nothing

It's all about keeping the right balance ..
Balance itself it's hard to achieve but it is even harder to maintain it ''in balance'' ..just in the middle between indulgence and sentence, stall and climb (and descents as well) ,self esteem and humility .. old and new life.
And when you start this challenging process, you realise that it will take your entire lifetime: maintaining the right distance amongst the different elements that risk to threaten the balance you managed to find ,leading doubts and Chaos back into your life.
In the end, we are all funambulists trying not to fall down
:)

ps. well done you!! :) I like it..

In response to:is Anywhichway an italian blog?

Yep he and Steph (Stefania) are Sicilian English, they're my cousins.

In response to:Nice to meet you all :)

Hi
